Account Director

We’re looking for a proactive Account Director to join our team and unlock growth from our existing network and beyond.

Full-time · MadeBrave

About the job

We build brave brands worth believing in. Help us build more of them.

Every brand starts with someone believing in themselves before the world does. MadeBrave started that way too – £1k in the bank, a two-week-old baby at home, and a founder who quit his job anyway. Fifteen years on, we're a global brand and creative agency in Glasgow, Star Agency of the Year 2024, with some of the most recognisable brands on our client roster including KPMG, First Bus, Bank of Scotland, Tunnock's, Velux and Hollywood Bowl.

We don't want to be the biggest agency in the world, we're small and mighty, and we want to be the most magnetic: the name people say first when they want to be brave. Strategy and Creative in the same room, ideas made to travel, utilising the AI newest tools in experienced hands.

Now we need an Account Director to build on the relationships we have behind the work, our clients. You'll lead a group of client accounts, be the person they trust with the big decisions, and turn that trust into award-winning work across brand, campaign and experiential. Clients and agency, both in your corner. And a growth mindset in everything you do.

What we need you to be

A growth focused individual who can build trusted relationships with pre-existing customers across FMCG, Banking and Finance, Pharma and Transport - converting that trust into award winning work across the EMEA, Nordic and US markets.

Someone clients come looking for. You build real relationships, not contact lists. Senior people trust you with the big decisions, teams want you in the room, and both come back to you first.

In the client's corner and the agency's. You get what the client is trying to achieve and what great work takes.

Here for the work. Award-winning isn't a line on a CV to you. You know what it takes to get there and you push to achieve the best for the client and the agency.

Commercially switched-on. You see the opportunity in a conversation, turn it into a brief, scope it properly and bring it in. You know your numbers, and you're careful with everything that isn't an idea.

A growth mindset. In your accounts, in the agency and in yourself. Curious past the brief: you ask what else we could do for a client. What other opportunities are out there and how do I bring that to the attention of all.

Your weird self. You bring your whole self to work, hold strong opinions loosely, and make the people around you braver. We prefer ideas over egos so everyone has a voice.

The role

  • Lead a group of client accounts – the relationships, the revenue and the profitability, be the MD of your group.

  • Build senior, long-term relationships across each client's organisation – not just the day-to-day contact.

  • Spot, shape and win opportunities across all our services: Brand, Activate and Experiment.

  • Lead the commercial side of pitches, proposals and scopes with our strategy and creative leads.

  • Turn client ambition into briefs our teams can do award-winning work against, and hold that standard all the way through for every stakeholder.

  • Own account plans, forecasts and pipeline for your group, reporting weekly as part of the leadership team.

  • Work hand in hand with our Senior Project Manager, so delivery runs smoothly and you stay on the relationship and the growth.

  • Be MadeBrave in the market – at client events, industry moments and wherever people are talking about brave brands. See this as a career and not as a job.

What we’re looking for

  • Significant experience in client services within a brand, creative, advertising or integrated agency, typically as an Account Director, or as a Senior Account Manager ready to step up.

  • A proven track record of growing accounts and winning work, with examples you can talk us through.

  • Experience with large organisations and plenty of senior stakeholders.

  • Commercial fluency: scoping, pricing, forecasting and managing account profitability.

  • Strong understanding of brand, campaign and experiential work, and how they fit together.

  • Clear, confident communication in the room, on a call and in writing.

  • Calm when it's busy, and clear on what matters most.

  • A growth mindset, and real curiosity about AI and new formats and what they make possible for clients and for the agency.

  • Bring your whole weird self to work, every day.

If you're a Senior AM looking to take the step up: good. Tell us why you're ready and we'll build the first six months around getting you there. If you are the finished article, great, lets get going!

Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. We'd rather meet brave people with range than wait for a perfect match.
